＜アジアパシフィック パナソニックオープン 2日目◇23日◇琵琶湖カントリー倶楽部 栗東・三上コース(7,005ヤード・パー71)＞
滋賀県にある琵琶湖カントリー倶楽部で開催されている「アジアパシフィック パナソニックオープン」の2日目。
イーブンパー33位タイスタートの石川遼は、3番で約1.5メートルのパーパットを外しボギーを先行させてしまうが、7番でセカンドショットを50センチにつけバーディ奪取に成功。スコアをイーブンに戻す。
しかし、前半最後の9番でティショットを左の林に打ち込むと、そこからトラブルとなり痛恨のトリプルボギーを叩いてしまう。
石川は前半終わってトータル3オーバー65位タイに後退。2週連続予選落ちしないためにも、後半はなんとしてもスコアを伸ばしていきたい。
首位にはトータル9アンダーのS・K・ホ(韓国)が立っている。

前半の9番でトリプルボギーを叩き、トータル3オーバーに後退した石川遼は、予選通過が危ぶまれたが後半4つのバーディ奪取に成功。トータル1アンダー16位タイで決勝ラウンドに進む。

あわや2週連続の予選落ちというところから、ホストプロの意地を見せた。滋賀県にある琵琶湖カントリー倶楽部で開催中の「アジアパシフィック パナソニックオープン」2日目。イーブンパー33位タイからスタートした石川遼が、前半でスコアを3つ落とすも後半怒涛の巻き返しを見せ、トータル1アンダー16位タイで決勝ラウンド進出を決めた。
「石川遼1打速報」で全ストロークを振り返る
石川は3番でボギーを先行させると、7番ではセカンドをベタピンに寄せバーディを奪取。しかし、9番でティショットを左の林の中に入れてしまうと、2打目を木に当ててしまい脱出に失敗。3打目、ピッティングで高い球を打ち林を越えサブグリーンまで持ってくるが、4打目は奥のカラーへ。そこから少しでも近くに寄せたいところだが、5打目はカップを1.5メートルオーバー。6打目を決めきれず、このホールをトリプルボギーとしてしまい3オーバーで折り返す。
後半に入ったときカットラインは2オーバー。しかし、ここから「とにかく練習場ではここ2週間調子が良かったので、どうしても予選を通過したかった」と驚異の巻き返しを見せる。10番パー5でのバーディを皮切りに、12番では残り50ヤードからセカンドを2メートルにつけバーディ。続く13番パー3ではティショットを1.5メートルをつけ連続バーディを奪取。15番でも81ヤードのセカンドを1.5メートルにつけさらにスコアを伸ばしていく。16、18番では惜しくもバーディパットが決まらなかったが、前半とは別人のようなプレーで終わってみれば、スコアはアンダーに。順位を16位タイまで上げた。
「残り2日間プレーできるのが本当にうれしい。ここで何かつかめそうな気がする」と予選通過の喜びを語った石川。ドライバーがまだ本調子ではないが、「よくなりそうな気がするので、明日は3アンダー、4アンダーで回れれば」と手ごたえはある。「最終日、最終組となるべく近い時間でラウンドできれば」。首位とは8打差あるが明日どれぐらい差をつめられるかが勝負。ホストプロとして大会を盛り上げるためにも、ムービングデーにこの日のバックナインのようなプレーをしたいところだ。

(Reuters) - World number six Rory McIlroy produced some dazzling golf on the back nine to overcome a sniffling Tiger Woods by one shot in their lucrative 'Match at Mission Hills' in China on Monday.
The double major-winning Northern Irishman shot a six-under-par 67 to beat the world number one's 68 in the exhibition match which, according to British media reports, earned both men in excess of $1.5 million.
McIlroy has endured a disappointing winless year but his game looked to be heading in the right direction for the final weeks of the European Tour season WITH a second victory over Woods following his one-shot success in the 'Duel at Jinsha Lake' last year.
"He schooled me twice," Woods said to much laughter after the friendly round, only for McIlroy to swiftly interject and downplay the achievement.
"Well, I don't know about that, I beat you by one shot twice," the former U.S. Open and U.S. PGA Champion smiled.
Both men wore microphones as they played, but it appeared Woods forgot that his every word was being made public as he was heard swearing on several occasions.
Twice he swore when describing a cold he has been suffering from for the last week, while television commentators were forced to apologize when further colorful language was uttered by the 14-times major winner on the 17th hole.
McIlroy told the on-course interviewer during his round that he wanted to win the match but the friendly chit-chat and lack of intensity, particularly from the renowned fighter Woods, was obvious throughout the contest.
The two were heard laughing and joking and discussed golf club design, pollution in China and the recent Presidents Cup in which an America side featuring Woods once again beat the International team.
BIRDIE FEST
The Blackstone Course on Hainan Island had been shortened for the duel, according to McIlroy, and with hardly any rough, organizers had done their best to create a birdie fest.
Unfortunately for the galleries that swarmed the two golfers at every opportunity, the duel did not light up until the golfers had made the turn for the inward nine.
Woods, playing for the first time since October 6, complained of rustiness after pulling his opening tee shot while McIlroy started solidly with birdies on the first two holes.
However, the Briton's joy was short-lived as McIlroy then carelessly three-putted the par-three fifth to fall back to level par.
Woods, who said he had picked up the cold from one of his children during his period away from competition, birdied the third, fourth and ninth to reach the turn at one-under, one ahead of his 24-year-old opponent.
Thankfully for the crowd and organizers, the level of competition improved on the back nine with both players eagling the par five 12th as McIlroy came close to a rare albatross with an exquisite approach.
Both then birdied the 13th while McIlory pulled level at four-under by sinking a five-footer to pick up another shot on the 14th.
The pair birdied the 300-yard driveable par four 16th before Woods made a crucial error on the 17th when he appeared to misjudge his approach to the green which fell well short and led to a bogey.
That left McIlory one ahead heading up the par-five 18th where both men found the green in two but Woods missed with his eagle effort to allow the mop-haired McIlroy to roll in a short birdie putt for the win.
"I enjoyed it. We didn't play probably our best on the front nine but on the back nine we got it going," Woods said.

HAIKOU, China (AP) -- Rory McIlroy won for the first time this year - even if it was an 18-hole exhibition against Tiger Woods.
McIlroy made four birdies and an eagle over the last seven holes at Mission Hills for a 6-under 67, giving him a one-shot win over Woods. It was the second straight year McIlroy has defeated Woods at the medal match in China.
''I would like to play all my tournaments in China where I can beat Tiger,'' McIlroy said.
Even an unofficial win has to count for something. McIlroy beat him last year at Jinsha Lake under far different circumstances. McIlroy was a major champion, No. 1 in the world and on his way to sweeping all the important awards. He signed a lucrative deal with Nike a short time later, and this season has been a struggle. McIlroy has had only one reasonable chance to win a tournament, and he didn't even qualify for the Tour Championship on the PGA Tour.
He is using a new driver and a softer golf ball, even prompting Woods to say to him after one chip, ''How did you do that?''
The banter was free and easy, mostly about equipment. Woods was trying to recover from a virus he picked up from his daughter, and spent most of the afternoon asking his caddie for cough drops.
The golf was spectacular over the final hour on the Blackstone Course, however.
Woods had a one-shot lead and hit a marvelous approach to 10 feet on the par-5 12th. McIlroy followed with a long iron into 5 feet, and both made eagle. They both made birdie on the 13th, and McIlroy caught him with a 6-foot birdie on the 14th.
They birdied the 16th to reach 5-under, and the match turned on the next hole. Woods came up short on his approach to the 17th, and after nearly flying his pitch into the cup, he missed a 5-foot par putt. Woods had a 20-foot eagle putt on the 18th for the tie. He missed, and McIlroy knocked in his 3-foot birdie.
Woods could hardly raise his voice after the round.
''I don't sound all that well now, but it was nice that it was warm out there today,'' Woods said. ''That certainly helped because I think my fever broke and I can start feeling a bit better. But I tell you what, when you have kids, they bring home some strong bugs, and this one has definitely been kicking my butt for the last couple of days.''
McIlroy was headed back to Shanghai for the HSBC Champions. Woods is skipping the World Golf Championship, and will play next week in the Turkish Open.
''I've seen a lot of promising signs over the past few weeks in practice and also in competitive play,'' McIlroy said. ''I still have four tournaments left until the end of the season and I would love to finish 2013 strongly and get a little bit of momentum going into next season. But I think as I showed out there, I'm hitting the ball well.
''If I can just get the putter going a little bit more, then in these last four tournaments I can hope to contend and maybe pick up a win or two.''
